Since the completion of his fellowship in medical oncology in 1977, Dr Neil Love has been committed to cancer treatment, research and education beginning with his appointment to the University of Miami Comprehensive Cancer Center in the division of breast cancer research. For over 10 years, Dr Love was involved in clinical research and patient care as a university faculty member. During this time, Dr Love observed that many effective oncology strategies utilized by physicians in academia were underutilized in community practice. He was also struck by the effectiveness with which the perspectives and opinions of research leaders could influence physician and patient behavior.

These observations and the ideas that sprung from them encouraged Neil to branch out from direct patient care, and in 1983 he founded Research To Practice. After a variety of pilot education initiatives and programs, in 1988 he launched the audio journal Breast Cancer Update for the sole purpose of providing community physicians ongoing access to the opinions and perspectives of research leaders. Since that time, Dr Love has interviewed almost every major breast cancer research leader in the world and has forged unique relationships with many of them, including Sir Richard Peto, Bernard Fisher, Gabriel Hortobagyi, Michael Baum, and Clifford Hudis. His poignant questioning and insightful interviews have earned him the unofficial title of “the Larry King of oncology!”

While much of Dr Love’s work has focused on providing innovative continuing medical education to clinicians, he also has extensive experience as a community health educator. Dr Love is the co-chair for the Miami Breast Cancer Conference, and for over 10 years he was the Director of Community and Physician Education for the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center. In this role, Dr Love was the regular host of the Medical Center’s monthly cable-access television program, JMH Monitor.

Dr Love obtained a BS in biology from Johns Hopkins University and is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.
